Consonance R1.3
The Consonance Reference 1.3 is a passive preamplifier; more precisely it is a passive volume control unit capable of varying the output level of a high fidelity audio system in multiple steps .
This scheme offers tangible improvements over all previous schemes based on resistive volume attenuation.
The Consonance R1.3 is capable of maximum transparency, as a passive attenuator is expected to do, but in addition to this it also offers the maximum possible dynamics.
The difference compared to common passive preamplifiers based on resistive attenuation is that the resistors deplete the signal, transforming it into heat, while the Consonance R1.3 preamplifier uses a Volume Control Transformer: technically called "TVC".
