Motion C10 is the compact centre speaker in MartinLogan's Motion series: a 2.5-way layout with a Folded Motion tweeter and two 14 cm woven glass-fibre cones, in a cabinet that can be turned over to tilt the sound towards the listener.
Motion C10: a centre speaker you can flip
The centre is the speaker that carries dialogue, and Motion C10 is designed to make it clear without taking up much room: 48.3 cm wide and 18.4 cm high, it fits on more pieces of furniture than a full-size centre would. The cabinet has an angled shape and can be turned over: resting on a low shelf it then points slightly upwards, at the listener, and voices come through more cleanly.
The two 14 cm woven glass-fibre mid-woofers are driven through a 2.5-way crossover, with handover points at 1,000 and 2,000 Hz, a choice made to remove lobing and keep the tonal character of the original material. Treble comes from the 26 x 36 mm Folded Motion tweeter in Gen2 Obsidian form, a thin-film unit set in a waveguide that spreads sound over 90 degrees and gives the same result on every seat of the sofa.
Motion C10 is made to partner the other Motion speakers in a home cinema system. Loading is reflex with the port at the back, the stated response runs from 63 Hz to 25 kHz within 3 dB and sensitivity is 93 dB into 4 ohms, with suggested amplifiers between 20 and 200 W. Connection is through a single set of terminals; weight is 10.7 kg.
