A league
The design of these headphones was born from Final's latest impulse response results. The result is a suite of products that set new benchmarks for sound quality.
Final's exclusive PMT, Perceptual Transparent Measurement as a new performance metric. A series that pursues the "Transparent Sound" through analysis and evaluation of the impulse response that could not be evaluated by the classic frequency response measurement that was done in the past.

A8000
Final's flagship model offers the ultimate in sonic transparency for truly unparalleled performance on the market.
The development of the A8000 began by questioning the measurement methods and subjective evaluation adopted up to that point by Final. Even just by adopting the criteria with which the D8000s, the old top of the range, were developed, the E series headphones were clearly superior. New evaluation criteria have been introduced with the A8000. Among the factors that determine the sound quality for headphones and earphones, the frequency response range is extremely important. The most critically valued aspect in classical music recordings is the transparency of the sound, that impression for which the rendering is very clear. Viewing this as extremely important, Final felt that the D8000's excellent rating was due to their exceptionally transparent sound. Prior to the development of the A-series, Final used to use changing the frequency response, in the sense of its amplitude (known as tuning), to change the sound of the headphones, but since this methodology is unable to make large changes to the time response , through tuning it was difficult to achieve better results than those achieved with the D-series. A new approach was needed. With this objective in mind, Final has developed its own proprietary evaluation methodology, the Perceptual Transparency Measurement (PTM), as a result of the subjective evaluation and that of the analysis of the impulse response not obtainable from the frequency response. The A8000 adopts an ideal diaphragm material that is extremely light and has high speed, which is ultra-thin beryllium foil (Truly Pure Beryllium Diaphragm).
Adopting pure beryllium diaphragm
The A8000 employs an ultrathin beryllium foil diaphragm (Truly Pure Beryllium Diaphragm), which is believed to be an ideal diaphragm material due to its light weight (specific gravity of 1.85) and high sound propagation speed of 12,900 m/s, second only to that of diamond, Beryllium, in short, has ideal characteristics to be used as a loudspeaker diaphragm. Its adoption brings a better temporal response, able to make the sound much more transparent with a sharpness and the persistence of the sound will be perceived clearly, as well as the silence between the sounds. Making a thin film of pure beryllium is difficult. Final engineers had to work hard to make it stable enough, but the results achieved paid off their hard work. To realize transparent sound using such a noble material, an equally excellent structure had to be developed, from the magnetic motor to the design and manufacturing technology. After all, Final has a great deal of experience in the development and production of headphone speakers, so it was not difficult to exploit the advantages of pure Beryllium. In the past, a beryllium diaphragm was created by vacuum deposition of a thin layer of metal onto a resin film. This method was effective in improving the characteristics of the resin membrane, but its qualities remained predominant. If, as in the case of the A8000, pure Beryllium is used, the sound and characteristics are completely different.
The sound of these headphones has been achieved by taking into account the relationship between the spatial impression and the dynamic range of the music, creating an excellent sound.
The approach was that of spatial perception. Classical and jazz recordings are made with great emphasis on aspects of spatiality, distance, width and reverberation. Rock, pop, and many of the recent soundtrack recordings don't take these aspects very seriously. We prefer to emphasize the clarity of the reproduction, which brings the various instruments and the voice to the fore.
Another approach is dynamic range, i.e. changes in loudness over time. If the dynamic range is large, you can use volume change to achieve a more dynamic expression of the music. But there are certain types of music for which recordings with more limited dynamics are preferable, to allow each of the instruments and the voice to appear better before the listener's eyes.
The difference between these two ways of thinking is not about which is better, but rather about how differently music is composed and what is required of the musician. As regards classical in general, and that played by the orchestra in particular, the spatial orientation of the instruments is particularly important. Arched ones are placed closest to the audience with the percussion behind them. If the balance between the spatial orientation and the volume of each group of instruments were to be incorrect, the music would lose its meaning. For this reason, it is not appropriate for every instrument to appear before the listener's eyes. For rock and pop, on the other hand, spatiality is not as necessary and therefore there is more emphasis on clarity.
These prerequisites are very important, especially for listening with headphones and earphones, and it is increasingly evident that it is necessary in the design phase to set goals on which aspect to prefer, in order to use the best loudspeaker and the most suitable structure for achieve the project objective.
In the graph below you will find spatiality and clarity in the reproduction on the X axis, and dynamics on the Y axis.
The A8000's excellent temporal response allows it to reproduce quality that approaches the range of the D-Series, with the great spaciousness required in classical and jazz music, yet with a wide dynamic range. The most distinctive feature of the A8000 is its universality, the ability to please anyone, with excellent sound for any content.
The feeling of a custom fit
The stainless steel frame is precision cut and features “Tetra-Chamber Construction”
The volume and shape of the chambers in front of and behind the speaker have a big impact on sound quality. In particular, the operation of the beryllium driver itself is extremely delicate, and is strongly influenced by the spaces created in the frame. The internal design can be calculated to some extent through simulations, but repeated prototypes must then be made until the set objectives are achieved. For the A8000, in order to optimize the driver operation, the inside of the driver unit frame is divided into four chambers (Tetra-Chamber Construction); that of the driver, the double behind the loudspeaker, and that which houses the MMCX connector. The loudspeaker is mounted in such a way as to suppress the vibrations generated in order to obtain the best possible sound. The use of four chambers strikes the right balance between volume and tightness in the bass range, while preventing the loss of important overtones.
MMCX Connector and exclusive OFC silver coated high purity OFC cable
MMCX ASSIST for easy connector removal
Using MMCX ASSIST the connector can be removed with surprising ease by applying minimal force in the direction of cable removal.
It also prevents the cable from being damaged by mistakenly pulling on the cable that goes inside the connector.
Earhooks that decrease cable noise
Different colored earphones for left and right channel
One of the earpieces is grey, while the other is red; by pulling the earphone back slightly to check its color, it is easy to distinguish between left and right, even in places with dim lighting. Since the colors of earbuds of neighboring sizes are different (alternating between light and dark gray and between red and pink), it is also easy to distinguish the various sizes from each other.
Interchangeable dust filter
The outward facing part of the dust filter can get dirty with earwax and dust. The A8000 comes with a removable and replaceable dust filter, and a replacement dust filter is included as an accessory.
* The product comes with a dust filter already installed, so it is not necessary to install another one. The dust filter becomes dirty after a long period of use and must be replaced.
