Headphone amplifier with VOLTAiR technology, jack and balanced XLR outputs with 2 × 8 W and VU meters.
Phonitor XE: the design
The Phonitor XE has its standard and balanced headphone outputs duplicated on the front and on the rear. Two analogue inputs, XLR and RCA, and an analogue output on XLR and RCA. Retro-style VU meters show the level of both channels; there are the Matrix effect, balance control and a stereo/mono switch.
Like the other SPL components it uses VOLTAiR technology: the audio circuits run on ±60 V rails, with discrete op-amps of SPL's own design and a shielded toroidal transformer.
