The fabric comes down from the back side of the case. The back is white too: best to avoid windows and lights right behind the screen.

Home Vision (front projection, gain 1.2): white composite PVC with a black back, not transparent. The black back makes the picture sharper and higher in contrast and stops light coming from behind. It must not be used as a blackout blind: sun and heat damage it.

Microperforated (front projection, sound-transparent, gain 1.05): lets through the sound of speakers placed behind the screen, with 0.4 mm holes you cannot see while projecting.
