Few components in the history of hi-fi can match the pedigree of the mighty NAP 250. Introduced in 1975, regular updates – both aesthetic and technical – have kept it at the highest level of performance for more than three decades, creating unforgettable musical experiences for many fans around the world.
The newer NAP 250 delivers what its predecessors promised. Featuring the low resonance anodized aluminum cabinet used in the Classic Series, it delivers 80W per channel (into 8ohm) with all the speed and agility needed to set the music free.
New Statement Technology
Our very high amplification system statement it took ten years of work. The research and development project has gathered all our knowledge and experience, leading us to several technological innovations. We have recently introduced two new technologies stemming from the Statement design into our range of power amplifiers.
The NAP 250 is now equipped with the new NA009 transistors introduced in the Statement. This key component, which took more than a year to develop, was created in collaboration with a semi-conductor specialist to achieve the best possible sound quality. The 250 also includes Naim Audio DR (Discrete Regulator) technology used in the Statement to deliver the smooth and stable power supply we know is critical for audio electronics to bring music to life.
These two new technologies, combined with other minor improvements to the layout and components, lead the NAP 250 DR to produce even more of the musical pitch, rhythm and tempo that made the original products so popular.
Characteristics
- 80W per channel into 8 ohms
- large purpose built toroidal transformer offering 400VA of transient power
- advanced 007 output transistors also used in the NAP 500 reference power amplifier
Technology and Construction
Similar to the top of the range NAP 500 and al NAP 300, the NAP 250 uses new, better grounded circuitry built on top quality anti-resonance motherboards. The NAP 250 uses the same NA009 transistors that were created for the NAP 500. These impressive components each deliver up to 80 amps and 350 Watts, eliminating the need to run a pair of parallel transistors (which always have a negative effect on tone). . More NA009 transistors are used in the power supply, ensuring the best performance.
A new high quality toroidal transformer is capable of delivering over 15 Amps and 400VA of transient power. The NAP 250 is stable under any load and can drive a 2-Ohm load for extended periods.
