The long-excursion woofer works with a 25 mm silk dome tweeter, and continuous power handling is 100 W RMS into 4 ohms.

The Luxe grille comes in two finishes: Gloss White and Satin Black. The price is for a pair.

Key features

7.7-inch two-way coaxial, 4 ohm nominal impedance

100 W RMS continuous power; suggested amplifier 40 to 200 W RMS per channel

Frequency response 45 Hz-25 kHz (+/- 3 dB)

Sensitivity 91 dB (1 W/1 m)

25 mm silk dome tweeter

Luxe grille standing 10 mm proud of the mounting surface

Injection-moulded polypropylene cone with mica filler

Woofer and tweeter

The woofer is optimised with DMA, the proprietary JL Audio technology that acts on the motor, the suspension and the cone profile to lower distortion and deliver clean, well controlled bass. The silk tweeter is matched to the diameter of this woofer: it brings out high-frequency detail and keeps a good response off axis too, so coverage stays even across the whole listening area.

Two-way crossover

A true two-way crossover, calculated for this size, sits inside the woofer structure. An electronic circuit protects the tweeter alongside it and limits the chance of failure.

Amplification

The M6 series is meant to be driven by a quality amplifier: for this model the suggested one delivers 40 to 200 W RMS per channel. Stated sensitivity is 91 dB with 1 W at 1 metre and frequency response is 45 Hz-25 kHz, within +/- 3 dB.

Installation

With the Luxe grille the outer diameter is 232 mm, mounting depth 108 mm and the cutout 191 mm: these differ from the Classic and Sport versions, so check them before cutting (Classic and Sport are 196 mm in diameter and need a 159 mm cutout). The grille comes off with the supplied tool. The fixing holes lie on a 208 mm circle. Terminals are fork type. Like the rest of the series, this model is made to live at sea and to cope with salt water in the long run.

What's in the box

Pair of coaxial drivers

Pair of Luxe grilles

Twelve fixing screws in stainless steel

Twelve washers in stainless steel

Grille removal tool

Cutout template

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0615/5278/7645/files/jl-audio-m6-770x-luxe-gloss-white-nmfch.jpg?v=1791108322
